In 1994 after many years working for others in the locksmith industry I formed my own locksmith company based out of Nashville, Tennessee. CompuKey Locksmith was formed originally as part locksmith company and part locksmith software company. As the local electronics guru and former college computer programming instructor, it seemed a natural transition to do both of the things I enjoyed. As the locksmith side of the business grew rapidly it became apparent that mechanical and electronic locks were destined to become the focus of the company. As a skilled electronics and computer specialist, I have been able to eloquently make the transition between the mechanical and the electronic sides of the business. I still write software for company use which helps give CompuKey an edge on the competition by enabling the company to be much more efficient and maintain better records thereby enhancing the customer experience.

In 2000 I expanded into the Hendersonville, TN area as well as Nashville and the surrounding areas. My focus has always been on serving businesses. Businesses have many unique needs for a skilled loss prevention professional. I have extensive training in this field and assist businesses daily in this ongoing effort. As the only locksmith with both the ALOA Certified Master Locksmith and SAVTA Certified Professional SafeTech certifications in Middle Tennessee, I am called upon daily to ensure the security of local facilities.

You may ask why I speak exclusively in first person. When I formed my company, I extensively studied the existing locksmith companies at that time. My goal was to learn what worked and what did not. The one thing I noticed over and over was that the owners really cared about their clients and their hired help did not. It wasn’t their baby. Once the owners formed their companies and got them going, they hired folks to do the real work in the field. That’s when the problems began. Client satisfaction levels when dealing with employees declined. I found that clients like dealing with the same person and the same experience each time. My clients know what to expect, which is excellence.

Following my research, I decided to remain a small one man business so that I could focus on a chosen clientele and treat them very well. I also affiliated my company with select other companies who shared my values. Each of our companies are independent but actively work together when larger jobs or emergencies necessitate. The arrangement has worked out beautifully for all of us and has made for many happy clients.

That was over 16 years ago when CompuKey Locksmith officially began. I still perform all work myself and strive to never close a call until it is just right. Some tell me I am too much of a perfectionist but the fact that almost all of the clients we began serving in the mid 90’s still call on a weekly basis is proof for me that what I envisioned back then does work.
